NEWS: Understand how recent changes to commissions and showings affect buying or selling a home in Chicagoland:
The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) announced nationwide practice changes implemented on August 17, 2024, as part of a settlement regarding broker commissions. More information is available in NAR’s guides and FAQs. Key changes include:
- Prohibition of Compensation Offers on MLSs: Offers of compensation will no longer be made on MLSs but can be negotiated off-MLS.
- Written Buyer Agreements: Agents must have a written agreement with buyers before home tours.
Cross County Realty is committed to helping you navigate these changes to the home buying or selling process, including negotiating a fair commission based on services provided.

The Chicagoland area is a true patchwork of neighborhoods, each with its own character, rhythm, and appeal. From the historic brownstones and tree-lined streets of Lincoln Park to the modern high-rises of the West Loop, from the family-friendly warmth of Edison Park to the artistic energy of Pilsen and Wicker Park, every community offers a distinct lifestyle and sense of place. In the suburbs, towns like Naperville, Oak Park, and Evanston blend small-town charm with city conveniences, making them ideal for those seeking more space without losing easy access to downtown. As a real estate agent, what excites me most about Chicagoland is helping clients find not just a house, but a neighborhood that fits their way of life—whether that means walkable coffee shops and nightlife, top-rated schools and parks, or a quiet street with room to grow.
